If only young Vika Gazinskaya knew, what consequences her habbit to wear sneakers, splendidly mixed with casual and evening outfits during Fashion Weeks in her journalistic years will cause…
Street-style photographers and bloggers from all over the world not only made Vika the Madonna of blogosphere, as perfectly noted the British press, but also prompted many designers with good ideas. Then numerous collaborations between such designers as Stella McCartney, Jeremy Scott, Riccardo Tisci, Rick Owens and different sports brands came out. Now every respectful fashion house consider its their duty to repeat Hermes feat and launch a line of luxurious sports footwear.
And it was quite natural, when Alexander Wang created sneakers for Balenciaga and the designers duo Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pier Paolo Piccioli for Valentino. But when I received a press-release about Giorgio Armani launching a line of sneakers, it became obvious: “Everything is mixed up in the Oblonsky house”…
And you know what? Why don’t I drop in one of the Nike stores, like Vika Gazinskaya did in 2008.

VOYAGE

Diary

Chambre Syndicale de la Couture Parisienne really needs young french names in Haute Couture week’s timetable. Alexander Vauthier perfectly copes with the role assigned to him: as proof to that is a white mini with the pearl embroidered top, white maxi with a bold cut back and asymmetrical sleeves,  mini dress that imitates a tattoo made of a black veil and white polka-dot, maxi dress of  the same polka dot with white fur jacket, black transparent maxi dresses with flared skirts, red mini dress with sequins and naked shoulder, two final black floor-length dresses  with asymmetrical decollete and bold cuts baring buttocks.

Ask Evelina

Q “I have heard a lot about London designer with Russian roots Olga Vilshenko. Can you tell about her more?” Daria, Moscow

A“Olga Vilshenko tells about herself in the interview to Evelina Khromtchenko”

Olga Vilshenko: I started my career as a designer in 2010. I presented my first collection on a press day in my London PR-agency during my first campaign and received favourable reviews. When it was time to enter the university, there wasn’t any for designers in my native town, I had to enter Institute of Finance and Economics in Chelyabinsk, it is in the Ural region of Russia. After graduating I went to study fashion design in Istituto Marangoni in London.

Evelina Khromtchenko: You are Moscow based now and as far as I know  you are going to open a show-room and a studio on Yakimanka.

Olga Vilshenko: Yes, a studio and a boutique on Yakimanka. A client can come and buy or order a dress.

Evelina Khromtchenko: Now a lot of designers, especially young and beautiful girls who do fashion collections, pay a lot of attention to Russian theme. How did you come to this?

Olga Vilshenko: Russian theme came to me from the very beginning.  How to attract press attention to Russian designer in London? Of course,  by roots. That’s why I tried to reflect my Russian roots in collections beginning with the first season.  It was very delicate, simple cross stitches on some details. I felt ill at ease first, I had always been in doubt, and finally I understood that was what they really liked.

Evelina Khromtchenko: I always see different beautiful girls from London and Moscow wearing Vilshenko in fashion columns. They look fabulous. How did you manage to attract it-girls, almost all designers dream about it?

Olga Vilshenko: All this happened not at once, but gradually. For example, during the second collection, when it was press day in London the stylist of famous singer  Florence Welch came and she decided that this style will suit Florence.  A month later Florence not only went out in my dress but even wore one of them in a concert.

Evelina Khromtchenko: A  really good start! Are you in a dress of your design?

Olga Vilshenko: Yes, it’s my dress.

Evelina Khromtchenko: Fabulous! I want the same dress!

Olga Vilshenko:  I will sew this dress for you with a pleasure!
