High Museum of Arts in Atlanta presents a large scale retrospective of a Dutch haute-couture designer Iris van Herpen. It’s the first US museum to host designer’s avant-garde creations inspired by science, art and philosophy. The exhibition “Iris van Herpen: Transforming Fashion” features 45 outstanding haute-couture outfits and shoes selected from collections designed between 2008 through 2015. Visitors will see in detail all sculptural futuristic outfits. Her designs have been worn not only by style icons like Lady Gaga and Bjork, in 2013 Iris van Herpen created costumes for Benjamin Millepied’s “Untitled ballet”. All designs are displayed on custom mannequins and accompanied by music and videos from runway shows. Besides, the concept of each piece is explained by Herpen’s own words.

Iris Van Herpen has made a fashion revolution transforming it into a couture high-tech. Almost every collection is created in collaboration with architects, engineers and digital-design specialists. She experiments with different unusual materials and combines 3-D printing with craftsmanship.

The exhibition “Iris van Herpen: Transforming Fashion” is open in Atlanta till May 15 2016. To order and buy tickets visit www.high.org
