David Koma is appointed as Mugler Artistic Director
Mugler Fashion just announced the appointment of David Koma as Artistic Director of its women’s ready-to-wear collections.
Koma, 28, a Georgian-born, London-based fashion designer, has been developing his eponymous label since 2009 and has established himself as one of the most talented and promising designers of his generation.
“I am deeply honored to take up the role of Artistic Director at Mugler – a House for which I have the utmost admiration and respect,” Koma says. “For me, Mugler is the most extraordinary fashion house with an undeniably audacious heritage.”
The appointment of David Koma is part of a new global strategy at Thierry Mugler, owned by Groupe Clarins, Paris, and follows the recent changes within the Mugler team last September: Sandrine Groslier as CEO of Thierry Mugler Fragrances & Fashion, and Virginie Courtin-Clarins as Director of Development, Marketing and Communications of Mugler Fashion.
David Koma’s first collection for Mugler will be presented during the Resort collections in June 2014. The first runway show will be presented in September 2014 in Paris.
