Maison Michel opens a pop-up tore in Paris
Maison Michel has chosen rue Cambon in the heart of Paris as the location for its pop-up store. This choice setting will see the first-ever showcase of the hat designer whose expertise has been developing since 1936.
Laetitia Crahay became the artistic director of Maison Michel in 2006, bringing a new dynamic to the brand and helping it remain continually at the forefront.
The pop-up store is designed like a small apartment where Maison Michel pieces mingle with everyday objects. The door opens into a warm, cozy setting where a Baroque mirror decorates a Haussmann-style fireplace. A Deyrolle peacock and rabbits occupy the space while small birds provide a bright touch. Powdered, floral fragrances fill the air and candles add sparkle to the atmosphere, which is further warmed by a thick zebra skin on the floor. Vintage furniture is blended with more contemporary pieces in complementary colors. Small objects create interest beneath bell jars and antique display cases. An uninterrupted black line runs from the floor to the ceiling to denote the limits of the room like the band between the edge of a hat and its crown.
Here, visitors may purchase the classical rabbit felt hat designs Virginie, André, Melanie and Henrietta in subtle winter tones, as well as the hair accessories that have helped bring Maison Michel world renown. This pop-up store is not only a showcase for a very large selection of Maison Michel pieces; it will also be offering a tailoring service beginning in January to personalize clients’ purchases. Shoppers will have the opportunity to express their creativity through an abundant selection of colors, by adding their choice of flowers and feathers, and by having their initials optionally embossed in the leather, for all time…
