Sofia Coppola debuted as a director of opera “La Traviata” at the Rome Opera Theatre. Premiere was held yesterday, may 22, with the support of the fashion house Valentino. Art-directors Maria Grazia chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccioli made the costumes. Sofia Coppola, filmmaker and winner of the “Oscar”, kept the usual classical form of opera by Giuseppe Verdi.

Applause from the full house as Valentino Garavani, Violetta (Francesca Dotto) Alfredo (Arturo Chacón Cruz) Maestro Jader Bignamini, Sofia Coppola and Creative Directors #mariagraziachiuri and #pierpaolopiccioli take to the stage for the final bow. #ValentinoLaTraviata @opera_roma

Creme de la creme arrived to the closed screening of “La Traviata”, including Bernardo Bertolucci, Keira Knightley, Monica Bellucci, Stefania Sandrelli, Elizabeth Hurley and Kim Kardashian, who chose the premiere to the opportunity to walk the red carpet of the Closing Ceremony of the Cannes film Festival, which took place almost at the same time. One of the most brilliant performances of the season cost the Rome Opera 1.8 million euros. The public will see “La Traviata” in reading Sofia Coppola starting from May 24.

Another great shot by @marchettisimone who also took over Snapchat for the #ValentinoLaTraviata after party. Monica Bellucci caught taking a selfie at the @opera_roma
