Sofia Coppola debuted as a director of opera “La Traviata” at the Rome Opera Theatre. Premiere was held yesterday, may 22, with the support of the fashion house Valentino. Art-directors Maria Grazia chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccioli made the costumes. Sofia Coppola, filmmaker and winner of the “Oscar”, kept the usual classical form of opera by Giuseppe Verdi.
Creme de la creme arrived to the closed screening of “La Traviata”, including Bernardo Bertolucci, Keira Knightley, Monica Bellucci, Stefania Sandrelli, Elizabeth Hurley and Kim Kardashian, who chose the premiere to the opportunity to walk the red carpet of the Closing Ceremony of the Cannes film Festival, which took place almost at the same time. One of the most brilliant performances of the season cost the Rome Opera 1.8 million euros. The public will see “La Traviata” in reading Sofia Coppola starting from May 24.
