Often we don’t know how looked the main representatives of English culture whose names are familiar to us from the school time. The exhibition will fill this gap. It will include portraits of prominent people in English history and culture: Queen Elizabeth I and Queen Victoria, Oliver Cromwell, Horatio Nelson, Isaac Newton, James Cook, William Shakespeare, Robert Burns, George G. Byron, Walter Scott, Jerome K. Jerome. This exhibition is the first experience of cooperation of the Tretyakov gallery and London’s National portrait gallery.
