The exhibition “Game Changers – Reinventing the 20th century silhouette” unites 100 unique couture and ready-to-wear silhouets by Cristóbal Balenciaga, Madeleine Vionnet, Gabrielle Chanel, Issey Miyake, Yohji Yamamoto, Ann Demeulemeester, Maison Martin Margiela, Comme des Garçons. The display gives complete overview to the way fashion silhouettes changed in the 20 th century. The experiments with new female designs which would set free a woman from tight corsets were started by fashion designers such as Paul Poiret and Coco Chanel in the 1920-1930s. In the middle of the 20th century Cristóbal Balenciaga changed the fashion – he created a radically new silhouette which became an inspiration for modern designers of a new era. Japanese and Belgian designers such as Issey Miyake, Yohji Yamamoto, Ann Demeulemeester also followed this trend with their avant-garde designs of the classic feminine silhouette.
To all the fashion creators, who managed to change rules of the game…
