A scarf fantasy of Vika Gazinskaya

Fashion designer Vika Gazinskaya wears silk scarves so masterful that she could write an encyclopedia “1000 and 1 way to tie a silk carré.” or become an official ambassador of La Maison des Carrés Hermès. In the interview for evelinakhromtchenko.com Vika tells about her personal collection of Hermès silk carrés and the importance of this accessory.

Vika, could you please tell us about your collection of scarves? How do you collect it?
— Usually, I get them as a present. My first scarf was a classical Hermès silk carré. It was a gift of my boyfriend. He knew that I wanted to have the Hermès scarf, and I should say he had chosen the perfect print. It became a start of my silk carrés collection. I couldn’t afford myself to buy one for 350 euros. I can’t imagine it now! To tell the truth, I don’t have so many scarves; different ways of tying give the impression of a large collection. My favorite and I’m absolutely sure the best ones are only Hermès classical 90 cm x 90 cm silk carrés: crisp, wringing the right way and inspiring.

You often wear scarves tying them in interesting and unusual ways. Sometimes you use several scarves all at the same time, you even wear it as a belt. What’s your favorite way of tying?
— I don’t analyze it at all, I just use a scarf for my own benefit.

How to choose scarves? What should we pay attention to?
— I would buy only Hermès classical 90 cm x 90 cm silk carré.

Is scarf an important accessory?
— I can’t say about its importance but for me a scarf is a very inspiring supplement which can principally revive even the simplest look.

A scarf is a very Russian piece of garment. What do you think why it is so rarely worn in Russia?
— It’s because the main population of our country thinks about convenience and warmth, and it’s quite obvious. Unfortunately, we have some other problems to think about dressing up… Silk carré is only a wardrobe fetish, it’s uncomfortable and has no meaning except a demonstration of your imagination…

Are you going to design VIKA GAZINSKAYA scarves in your future collections?
— In that case I really do not want to compete with the Great ones
