A retrospective exhibition The Fashion World of Jean Paul Gaultier: From the Sidewalk to the Catwalk in Paris Grand Palais covers the life and career of Jean Paul Gaultier. 175 significant haute couture masterpieces from the brand launched by Jean Paul Gaultier in 1995 and pret-a-porter designs from the line closed by the designer in 2014 to focus on couture collections are shown in the exhibition. Being retrospective the exhibition is developed with modern high-technologies: this is the first ever exhibition with 3-D projection mapping on mannequin’s faces. The exhibition is provided by various personal materials: childhood photos, first sketches, the Teddy bear which became the first mannequin for 6 years old designer to make all possible fashion experiments including extravagant cone bra. The exhibition is displayed in several special rooms. One of them is dedicated to the genius marinière sweaters and sailor trousers of all kinds and fabrics. Other room is decorated like a real fashion show with Madonna, Kylie Minogue, Mylene Farmer, Conchita Wurst in their significant Jean Paul Gaultier designs on the catwalk and Catherine Deneuve, Dita Von Teese, Franca Sozzani, Suzy Menkes and others sitting in the front row.
