Choose any simple object like tomato soup cans, silk carrè or balloons and turn it into art. Donald Robertson, Estée Lauder creative director and contemporary pop-art genius, chooses walnuts and dresses them up like the iconic designers, journalists and singers. The name of the project is based on word-play “fashionista”, nut means “to be mad about”.
The perfect nutty art project “Fashion is Nuts” includes walnut portraits of the fashion universe’s biggest creative stars such as Coco Chanel, Anna Wintour, Diana Vreeland, Pharrell Williams and etc. All nut caricatures are designed in Donald Robertson’s style with duct tape and bold paint stroke.
“Fashion is Nuts” project is presented as a 40-page illustrated book and 10 posters with a limited run of 1000 copies. The project was released on the first day of New York Fashion Week with a book-singing of all Fashion is Nuts team: artist Donald Robertson, photographer Henry Leutwyler, designer Ruba Abu-Nimah and producer Karl Cyprien. All the posters and book are available now at www.fashionisnuts.com Hurry up to order your “Fashion is Nuts” book because The Metropolitan Museum of Art has already bought one for its library of fashion books!
