It is not a secret that the Parisian house left by its Belgian founder and now owned by Italian magnate, is a laboratory of taste ruled by an anonymous team of designers. Nevertheless it is clear that someone from the team is a true admirer of Jean Paul Gaultier and Elsa Schiaparelli’s designs. Otherwise how would you explain the presence of decorative lobsters which are usually associated with Elsa’s works of the 1930th, and the colored silk satin bombers embroidered with traditional oriental stitch, which Jean-Paul presented in his spring-summer 2007 collection? In the final of that show Gaultier even appeared on the runaway blowing a whistle to emphasize the sports theme affected in the collection. The difference is that in MMM collection the bombers are turned into dress-coats, as they are sewed down with maxi-skirts.
DJ Leigh Lezark sitting in the front row was wearing the top from the previous MMM collection (spring-summer 2014) with luxurious tattoo embroidery, that resembled so much Gaultier’s work at the boundary of the 1990s and 2000s.
