Schiaparelli Haute Couture Fall-Winter 2014-15
The ambassador of the house ingenious model Farida Khelfa is faced by a difficult task: to walk Marko Zanini’s dramatic creations for Schiaparelli so that all understood it is a true incarnation of Schiap. I am sure that for this purpose she will choose black dresses – tuxedo with bloomers, a clinging dress with asymmetrical drapery on the chest, or yak fur bolero. It is fair to note positively a gentle-pink dress with the pockets embroidered by a silver thread, a little black dress with a pierced heart, the dress embroidered by silver spangles with basque and a multi-color trouser suit with a jacket which reminds of Schiaparelli’s follower Saint Laurent. Maitre once brilliantly translated Elsa’s eccentric language into his modern language of the Parisian chic. Actually, a problem of past and present Zanini’s collections for Schiaparelli is that he allowed archival sketches to get the obvious best of the present. As a result, one really wants to reconsider structurally all cropped jackets and, at the same time, a pink coat with mighty letters ES, to deprive a yellow dress of heavy black pompons and to tear off sable sleeves from a leopard coat.
