The Italian fashion house Etro, founded in 1968 by Gerolamo “Gimmo” Etro as a textile design company, celebrates its 50th anniversary with a large immersive retrospective. “Generation Paisley” exhibition tells the story of the brand through its 50 years, presenting visions of the future and the inspirations, ideas, colors that shape Etro’s world. Paisley – a bud of date palm of Mesopotamian origins – is considered the ‘tree of life’, a symbol of fertility and longevity, a decorative element that has become, year after year, the cornerstone to Etro’s personal style.
The exhibition with selected 50 pieces on display is divided into five sections. The exhibit also displays clothes from designers Franco Albini or Oscar de la Renta, as the company originally provided fabrics for other brands. Among the archival collections there are some items belonging to members of the Etro family, for example a brocade paisley nightgown made by Gimmo’s grandmother. The retrospective project includes interactive installations demonstrating the campaigns and mood boards, home designs and fabrics.

Exhibition runs till 14th October 2018.

Address: Via Tortona, 56, 20144 Milano MI, Italy
