Daria Fisher is a professional street musician who makes concerts on Moscow streets under the open sky. Considering all the features and specifics of work of a street musician, Daria manages incredible. Every concert outfit looks like a professional stylist creation.
Daria told us, about her own point of view on music and fashion, and why these concepts are inseparable.
Why did you choose street concerts? Is it an experiment?
The first time I came to play in my native city Izhevsk. Nobody played like me before there. Obviously, it didn`t look like nowadays perfomances on Kuznetsky most with all the nessecary equipment. I went outdoors and began singing favourite songs under my windows. After that I had a goal – to give a concert in Saint-Petesberg. Exactly, such thoughts brought me a lot of emotions. After moving to Moscow my concerts became a tradition. Street perfomances inspire me phisically and mentally. No one concert in night-club and all sorts of bars can`t give me such strong and distinct impressions, as street does. First of all, it is about people that come up to me.
Do you play alone or with your team?
I know that I need to carry out all the duties because it`s my own idea to play on the streets. I rent music equipment and soundman in order to avoid problems with the sound and play on Kuznetskiy most for 4-6 hours. Sometimes it can last up to 4 a.m. The year before I played with a small loudspeaker, but now it has become in a full concert.
How can you name your career status? Is it succes or just a first step on your way?
To tell the truth I can`t say that I reached all I wanted to do. I spend plenty of time working on my own album. I think this is the meaning of my life now – to create a music for people. My aim is not to impress people with effects, but to impress them with the power of my voice and violin. So, I don`t know what will be in my future, but I`m sure that I won`t stop.
You look gorgeous. Do you ask stylist for help sometimes?
I like used clothes and buy clothes only in second-hands in Milan and Paris. One day I specially came there and was looking for them.
Honestly, I dress up this way since my chilhood. Mom brought clothes for me clothes from Italy and also dressed me up in second hands. I think I dressed better in my childhood than nowadays. Obviously I can buy some basic things in mass-market but I can`t find shoes or coats in a typical
shopping center and be satisfied with my choice. Usually it seems to me, that some things find me themselves. I can`t imagine my life without them. Such things, that you want to wear every time. I suppose everyone should wear his clothes with such feelings.
Does your personal style help you in life?
I`m sure black color in my wardrobe brings me more confidence, than my personal style. Others don`t understand it, especcially in my academy. Some time ago my cardigan turned into a waistcoat. When I was late to the concert I ran very quickly and tore my cardigan. Suddenly new waistcoat became much better without two long sleeves. Knitted waiscoat served me for very long time until I lost it.
What inspires you in choice of clothes?
To be honest, I like the way of dressing up of homeless people in Paris. They put on everything they find in the street, and it looks so stylish and unpredictable. Sometimes they look so good, so it`s really hard to distinguish them from the ordinary people. And it’s not so easy to chose who looks better: a well-dressed boy in brand clothes or a guy, who hasn`t got a money to buy socks.
The spirit and style of Vetements and FKA twigs singer is very close to me. I respect them. Besides, Marc Jacobs made a significant impact on me, when I saw his fashion show. I was a child, but I still remember it. Generally he inspired me. By the way, I often draw different sketches, when I imagining my own further fashion collection.
Whay do you think about the way your friends and colleagues dress in the academy? Do you pay attention to it?
I pay attention on shoes. It can say 70% about the person. I don`t have best friends in my academy, but I have many good buddies. I`ve noticed, mostly men choose their outfits better and pay attention to trends. Besides, Sometimes my colleagues are too concerned about the music, that they forget to look stylish. But I really want to change these stereotypes about black dress and flats during the study.
Is it possible to hold a line between your music and fashion? And between fashion and your work in particular?
I know that music and fashion is the whole world. They can`t be without each other. It`s very important what do I wear during the concert. There always must be a balance.
Fashion plays an important role in the concerts. It helps people to understand who you are. It is amazing when you are on the stage and people feel your energy from your clothes. it`s really great that music and fashion can`t exist without each other because together both of them could produce incredible results.

Как Вы сами квалифицируете свой карьерный статус? Это успех или ещё только начало?
Сейчас я не могу сказать, что уже добилась нужного мне результата. В данный момент я уделяю много времени своему альбому, и, наверное, смысл для меня — создавать музыку для людей. Моя задача не поразить эффектами, а затронуть каждого слушателя через вокал и скрипку. Не знаю, что меня ждет в будущем, но я не собираюсь останавливаться.
